Our story
Australian Vanilla Plantations was incorporated in 2016, however the idea was born from the seeds of curiosity. A simply dinner conversation in 2013 lead to a question of 'why can't we grow vanilla in Australia'?.
In 2015 I was introduced to a remarkable lady who had done research into vanilla growing and successfully grew vanilla in Sydney. She proved that vanilla could be be grown in sub-tropical regions given the right environment and conditions.
To grow vanilla commercially and transition research into a commercial concern a number of key questions need to be resolved.
These questions include; how to create a greenhouse that was low cost, low maintain, easy to construct that was small enough to put on a variety of different properties.
The Vanilla Dome
Growing vanilla in many regions across Australia is now possible with the Vanilla Dome.
Vanilla domes appears as a bubble with it’s own climate and environment. It creates the ideal environment all year.

Domes are the most efficient super structure. They optimse airflow, sunlight, humidity and light. They can operate off-grid as they use very little electricity and water.

The uniquely designed trellis growing structures rotate to ensure all plants have equal access to sunlight.
The trellises optimise the number of vines that can be naturally grown to ensure highest yield and quality.
